Ham Radio Programming Clinic – This Saturday, January 3!
If you got a new radio as a holiday gift and need programming help, come to our first Ham Radio Programming Clinic of the New Year. We’ll walk with you through the basics of getting your rig on the air and making it work the way you want.
The clinic will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Holly Hill History Museum, 1065 Daytona Avenue, Holly Hill, FL 32117.
We have a special programming file with a curated list of Central Florida repeaters and popular local frequencies; if your radio can be programmed successfully, you’ll be able to put it to use on the air right away.
What we’ll cover
- Using CHIRP to program popular handhelds and mobiles
- Setting offsets, tones, and memories for local repeaters
- Importing frequency lists and backing up radio configurations
- Loading our Central Florida repeater/frequency list into compatible radios
- Basic operating tips and good on-air practices for new hams
- Q&A and troubleshooting of attendee radios
Hosted by Arthur J. Byrnes, N4AJB – Editor, RadioChirp.org.
Questions? Email: radiochirp@gmail.com.
Please make sure to charge your radio overnight so it is ready for on-air testing during the clinic.
Thanks to a recent donation of a few USB sticks, if you already know how to program your radio and just need the Central Florida repeater and frequency list, you can stop by and get a copy for free. In the future, downloadable versions of these programming files are planned, but they are not available online yet.
We have programming cables for some radios, but please bring your own cable if you have one. Bring your questions, your radio, your programming cable, and a notepad if you’d like to take notes – 73 de N4AJB.
